Our microschool began as a grassroots initiative in 2012 and has since evolved into a thriving community of microschools which implement a service learning curriculum. What sets us apart is our Service Learning approach. Service Learning integrates community engagement projects with school curriculum, ensuring that core subjects are made truly relevant through real life application. Through service-learning in our small group settings, we can maximize individual academic progress while simultaneously nurturing their love of community.
Our project-based curriculum is divided into 3 main categories: Environmental, Animals and Humanity. Each category spans 2-3 months of the school year. During each cycle, with the help of teachers, the students plan and execute age appropriate projects with correlated curriculum. Through this outward focus, we connect the classroom to community, empowering students to identify issues and employ creative solutions. This approach fosters a sense of belonging and value within the community, while connecting students with local leaders and future leadership opportunities.
Our emphasis on Service Learning not only enhances academic lessons but also helps students form strong friendships with like-minded peers who share a passion for making a positive impact.
Currently, we have locations in North Pinellas County and Hillsborough County, Florida. Our Organization is comprised of a diverse board of directors, most of which were the original microschool team members, and we oversee operations at our locations. Our team is dedicated to empowering educators as directors of their own microschools every step of the way. We provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure high-quality education for students from Kindergarten through early college. Ask us about our high school alumni, we're happy to share their success stories with you!
